The Giving Tree 2004
Three years ago a small group of New Century Transportation employees wanted to find a way to provide assistance to the needy during the holiday season. With New Century Management support the Giving Tree Committee was off and running. Now in its third season, New Century Employees have generously provided toys, clothing, personal needs and calling cards to area organizations and for the U.S. military serving overseas.
Each year the Giving Tree employee committee reviews the needs of the local community and offer support. This year The Children's Home, Mount Holly, NJ www.childrens-home.org, Robin's Nest, Glassboro, NJ www.robinsnestinc.org and Burlington County Times Give-A-Christmas received assistance and items. In addition, the NCT Employee Giving Tree committee provided our troops serving in Iraq with games, personal items, books, videos and calling cards. Employees donate children's gifts, everyday items, and especially their time. A volunteer committee assists in the sorting of gifts, loading of trucks and a plethora of activities that rival Santa's elves' workshop.
The Children's Home is a non-profit organization, providing special education as well as residential and emergency shelter services for disadvantaged children. They have been serving local children and families with a variety of needs for the last 140 years. Their goal is to provide professional, therapeutic and supportive services in order to help children and their families become more productive members of society.
The Robins' Nest is a private, non-profit organization, offering professional intervention and guidance to troubled children. Founded in 1969 in Glassboro, New Jersey, they support children of all ages through a variety of treatment programs designed for their specific needs. They have a dedicated staff that does whatever it takes to give these children the opportunity for a much brighter future.
In addition to these two wonderful children's organizations, New Century's employees reached out to our troops overseas that will be missing their loved ones over the holiday season. Care packages were produced that consisted of games, books calling cards and everyday items in low supply to the troops. Two New Century employees who have family members serving in Iraq and their units received support from the Giving Tree. New Century Transportation employees are happy to share with those in need and bring them some holiday joy. It is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community and provide assistance to those who are less fortunate.
